Spoiler alert, there are no slurpees involved in any part of today’s post. I don’t know why I wrote “slurpee Sunday”. I just wanted to write something.
- Theda has been pretty touchy all day, so when she fell asleep early on the couch this evening I didn’t really think much of it, other than, “Oh finally, let’s let her sleep.” Then she woke up when Jarrod said it was time for prayers, started sobbing about how her head hurt, and then said she was going to throw up when Jarrod started carrying her up to her bed. And promptly puked in the toilet. Then again in a bag, fifteen minutes later. So…probably no school tomorrow, and definitely no more play place parties. Ugh.
- Play place parties: we went to our first party of the year on Saturday. Last school year we mostly said no to parties, but the night after the one party I did go to with the kids — at an indoor play place — Liesl ended up puking multiple times. This does not bode well for play place parties. That said, it was a pretty neat place, and I ended up going in the play area with the kids after they begged me to. Man, talk about a full-body cardio workout, having to squeeze through all that kid-sized stuff to climb up to the slides!
- I finished Sisters in the Wind today while the kids pestered me to stop and play Magical Athletes with them. It was tragic and beautiful. But I’m still super annoyed that Boulley/the narrator Lucy relies on the plot device of “I know something you don’t know”.
- I made a loaf of sourdough bread today, maybe my first loaf since we moved here! Specifically, honey-oat sourdough, from this recipe. Turned out pretty well! I’d like to start making a loaf of sourdough each week, specifically on Friday, but didn’t time it well. To do that, I need to feed my starter on Thursday night and then get the loaf going on Friday morning. Possibly even earlier, for something like croissant bread. (Which, YUM.)
- I got all three kids bathed yesterday. That is an accomplishment worth celebrating!
- (Because why not?) Friday’s call was a bit of a disaster, so we’ll see if I end up getting a job offer this week. That said, I have two recruiter calls tomorrow, and Jim, the guy who arranged my AmTrust interview this summer, might have something for me at Amtrust. The garden has not completely gone fallow!
