- The kids have been smashing their Hoffman Academy piano lessons. The platform is both incredibly accessible — guided lessons and practice sessions from home! — and quite frustrating. I mean, don’t get me wrong. 10/10. I’m a Joseph Hoffman fan. BUT! The fights over the piano, man. Who’s going to do a lesson first. Having to sit with them to read what they need to do. (Well, thankfully Theda and Ambrose can mostly navigate the practice sessions on their own.) So much screaming and drama. In short…I’ve had a night.
- I channeled my inner Don Draper today (and not my inner Sad Unemployed Lady) and went to see the 12:40 showing of Digger. I went in completely un-spoilered and wow, what a wild ride of a movie. Unfortunately, the sound mixing + my bad ears meant that I only understood about 60% of the dialog, but obviously I got the gist of what was going on. It really is a movie you want to have no idea about going into it. I thought *some things* in the first third of the movie that I was justified in thinking once a big reveal was, well. Revealed. I need to sit with what I’m feeling for a bit and maybe come back to give a longer fully-spoilery review. It was good, though. I want to watch it again. With someone who hasn’t seen it yet!
- Still no news from Cleveland Clinic. Which is fine. Low pay, sour grapes. I had a recruiter call with a woman who reminded me of Amy Schumer for a position with GardaWorld. Really good pay, fully remote. But I haven’t heard back from her about whether the good folks at GardaWorld would like to speak with me. So AmTrust really seems to be my last iron in the fire for the time being. Hey — I got a job offer from them before. How difficult could it be to repeat that success? (Yikes, that’s not the attitude!)
- Before the movie I spent a good 2-3 hours doing battle with Github Actions. Kind of fun to really go deep into the rabbit hole, but I’m not sure what sort of actions I can even set up for the ChurchCMS app. CodeQL scanner isn’t available for PHP, and its equivalent requires a different level of PHP. Pewp. So now I’m just trying to at least write a code comment on PR open.
- Did a crummy lower body CGX workout today. Unilateral giant sets, repeated twice per leg. So: left leg giant set, right leg giant set, then back to left, then right. I was really just not feeling it at all. But I got it done. And I listened to Goblin Secrets in the process.
