I’ve been feeling kind of sluggish and procrastinate-y this morning, so I’m hoping if I sit down to write out my weekly update and then force myself to do my workout directly afterwards, I’ll get some wind in my sails to do a bit of web work before (gulp) the Big I at 3 pm. It’s 10:40 now. I’ve got loads of time to kill. Slash, slog through? Because I don’t want to do anything except sit here, paralyzed, until 3:oo. But what a waste of a day that would be. So! Here’s an update on all the categories from the past week.
Work & Tech Stuff
As mentioned before — today’s the big panel interview with the Digital Marketing team at the Cleveland Clinic. Still praying and trusting God. But if I utterly fail this and/or they don’t want me, I’ve got a few new sprouts coming up. One recruiter who deals with AmTrust called me with a question from a hiring manager there; I need to give him a call back. And there are a couple more LinkedIn recruiter messages I need to answer. All is not yet lost!
In the meantime, I had a good call with Paul yesterday about the next steps that need to be taken to get the church website MVP deployed. I’m actually looking forward to diving into everything that needs to be done, but again — oddly paralyzed, I think just because of this looming 3 pm call. Bleh. But like…I’m gonna set up a CI/CD pipeline in GitHub! I’m so excited! It’s gonna get hairy and I’m gonna love every bit of it!
Writing
Oh heyyyy well at least the daily-ish blogging has been going well. After I force myself to work out, how about I make the commitment now to force myself to write 500 words? Good? Good.
Reading
I’m nearing the end of Behind the Beautiful Forevers, which is depressing AF but also just very riveting. I’m hoping it will end on some sort of note of hope, but maybe there’s no hope to be had, I don’t know.
I’m about 30% of the way through Sisters in the Wind, the third Firekeeper’s Daughter book. I ADORED The Firekeeper’s Daughter but am not quite feeling this one like I was that one. That one had plot, action, adventure. This one feels trapped in a hotel room and freed a bit only through flashbacks. But at the same time, I’m very invested in the story, though only through the narrative device of what I like to call, “I know something you don’t know!”. I’m really glad to see Jamie and Daunis reunited though, even if she does have a boyf on the side and is resisting Jamie’s oh-so-irresistible charms.
Other Creative Pursuits
Camera — I need to get it out again! I didn’t take any beautiful fall pictures in Indiana at all. Boo. What other creative pursuits do I have going on? Ohhh the album listening quest. Gotta get back to that. Yeah.
Health
Still plugging away at Fuel (and LOVING it, as an aside). Have I mentioned that I’m going to force myself to do a workout after this? Because…I am. Full-body Friday baby. Weight was just about down to 147 this morning, which is fine. I’m no longer overweight, medically-speaking 🙂
Home Projects
Haven’t been doing much basement work. If I can get the boxes and paper out by Monday, that will make a big difference. And I’m also going to sketch out how I want the rest of the girls’ side of the basement to look.
Family & Adventures:
Liesl and Ambrose (and also partly Theda) have been going through a really intense and annoying sleep regression after a few false burglar alarms. I have no idea how to fix this. Help.
Liesl and Ambrose have allergy appointments today. I think there’s going to be a blood draw involved, poor kids.
I got to visit Theda’s classroom yesterday for Take Your Parent to Work Day! It was very cool to watch her go about her normal morning stuff — creating her work plan and working with her BFF Indira to check the things off that she was wanting to do. We did some antonym matching, some invertebrate/vertebrate matching, and Theda did a quick lap of Run Club. Man, what a cool school these kids get to go to.
Movie night tonight! We’re going to watch Rocket Man. Tomorrow we have a birthday party. I hope Liesl’s BFF is there. I need to talk to her parents and introduce myself.
Action Items:
- Purchase a Bluehost plan & new domain name for the church
- Figure out what the heck to do with the kids’ messed-up sleep
- Get the boxes and trash outta da basement
