Remember that episode of Arrested Development where Tobias auditions for a commercial and Lindsey ends up getting the role because of her natural reaction to the news that the store is having a fire sale? And then she proceeds to go on a big shopping spree and take her mom to lunch, because hey — she got a job! Then oversleeps the next morning and loses said job? Read on, friends.
- No, I don’t actually have a job, and so this is why I’m really feeling like Lindsey today. No job, but a really encouraging interview with the hiring manager for the job at Cleveland Clinic. Like, if you’d asked me near the end how I thought it was going I’d say, “It’s going…okay!” but then she basically told me she was going to get me set up for the next round interview — read: the final round, Final Boss round, panel interview — and so now I’m basically walking on air and licking my thumb for my first paycheck. Which I actually have zero assurance will come, because I have zero assurance that I won’t utterly screw up the Final Boss round and have to start back from square one. So. Yes, I did buy a pair of jeans at Madewell after the interview, but they were on sale, okay! I’m trying to remain clearheaded and calm, still working on brushing up on React and C# (plus I’m also going to look into NextJS, Sass and Tailwind, since it’s what the team uses), still working on applying to other places. Inhale, exhale Emily. (BUT OMG OMG I MIGHT NOT BE UNEMPLOYED FOR MUCH LONGER!!!!)
- The pork sirloin ended up being pretty tasty. Thanks ChatGPT. I guess. This has me thinking of a brand new, weird AF story idea that I can’t keep out of my brain. Really exciting, actually. I’ll word-vomit all my thoughts this evening or tomorrow (I have WRC chorale practice tonight, so not much time to myself) and maybe put a bit of a summary of things in here tomorrow. Or Friday!
- I forgot to mention the other thing we did this weekend (it was a wild and packed weekend), which was go to the kids’ school fall festival! It was an absolute blast to watch the girls interact with their friends. I swear, one of Liesl’s little friends has this face that you know exactly what she’ll look like and who she’ll be when she’s a fully-grown adult. She’s just the absolute cutest little thing. (And OMG I just checked the place where the school shares photos online and there’s a new set from their orchard trip, including a few where they’re on the bus together. Dying. Of cute.)
- Did not sleep well last night. Liesl at least slept okay the first part of the night, then it was more of the same: I can’t sleep. Mom? Mom? I’m afraid the alarm is going to go off. She woke up Ambrose who was also freaked out. I ended up sleeping a bit in the hallway, then moving to the bottom portion of Liesl’s bed. I tried to move back to my bed when I got cold under my one blanket, but then she came and found me not twenty minutes later. Seriously. Long night. I’m le tired.
- I went to Trader Joe’s for groceries after my interview. When is the corn candle coming out? I need a corn candle in my life ASAP. When I see them on the shelves again, I’m seriously going to buy ten of them. Corrrrrrnnnn.
