So! Today is September 30th. And I haven’t even made the quip to wake me up when September ends yet! Well. It’s not too late — wake me up tomorrow, then. Got it? Great.
In the meantime, let’s go over our fall goals and see what sort of progress I’ve made. I didn’t officially create a September Goals page or post, but I’ll make one for October tomorrow. For now, I’m okay to just review all of my fall goals and mark my spot along the path toward completion. (This isn’t officially Adventure Goals, but I do love that concept and hope to go back to it eventually.)(Once I remember the name of the Formation mentor who came up with that concept, I’ll link to his page explaining it. Andrew! Andrew Miner! There it is. What a great dude. Huh, seems like those were his last posts on his personal page.)
A Look Back at September
Work
- What I Wanted to Do: Work toward getting a job through various means, work for an hour each day on my personal project.
- What I Actually Accomplished: I started the personal project but pooped out on it when interview stuff got more intense. But on the plus side, I’m really really close to potentially having a new job! Stay tuned!
House Projects
- What I Wanted to Do: Clean up & organize the basement!
- What I Actually Accomplished: I did at least manage to order drawers for the kids’ craft supplies and install them. But there’s a lot of junk that needs to come out of the basement, and more toy organization to do. But progress is progress!
Family
- What I Wanted to Do: Take a trip or two on the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad, go to the farmers market on Saturdays, visit a fall-themed farm, get the kids enrolled in piano or strings.
- What I Actually Accomplished: I booked the North Pole Adventure trip on the CVSR for the day after Thanksgiving, and since I don’t have a job as of yesterday, we won’t do an extra trip this year. Every single weekend this month has been wild and crazy, so we haven’t had a chance to get back to the farmers market, unfortunately. I have a tentative date on the calendar for the fall farm visit (weekend after this coming one), and we have started on the Hoffman Academy piano lessons! So far, so good!
Health/Fitness:
- What I Wanted to Do: Do Fuel through the CGX app, work towards 145 lbs (and less sugar!), walk 2 miles daily or 10 minutes after meals.
- What I Actually Accomplished: Fuel is coming along! I’ve missed three workouts so far, but NBD. I’m hovering around the 147 mark, but sugar remains…a struggle. Walking is lol. Hopefully if I get a job I can justify getting a walking pad finally.
Creativity:
- What I Wanted to Do: More DSLR photos, listen to 30 new/re-listen albums, work on outlining a novel, blog, cross off 15 books from the ’26-27 reading list.
- What I Actually Accomplished: More DSLR photos! The listening is coming along slowly, but it’s not the end of the world. Outlining the novel is basically nonexistent BUT I have a fun exciting idea I just haven’t had a minute to write down yet. But hey, I’m killing it with my reading. 11 books down in a single month!
Adventures & Fun:
- What I Wanted to Do: 1-2 mini adventures, 6 geocaches.
- What I Actually Accomplished: We did the escape room! Does biking the Pumpkinvine trail count as a mini adventure? I’m going to count it as a yes. Haven’t gotten a single geocache though.
Habits/Rhythms/Routines:
- What I Wanted to Do: Morning lymphatic drainage moves, create a seasonal meal list, complete 12 weeks of systems.
- What I Actually Accomplished: Haven’t done a single day of lymphatic drainage, lol to that, too. I hand-wrote a seasonal meal list but it just hasn’t worked out. I need to think of something different to do. I’ve done some of the systems from System Sundays but it’s been such a busy list that I haven’t been able to be super consistent with it.
Other Stuff & Obligations:
- What I Wanted to Do: Update the church website.
- What I Actually Accomplished: I did update our current website, and am working on a better solution for the longer-term that integrates ChurchCMS for admin stuff, along with an entirely new site of my own designing to put on my portfolio as a project.
