Work & Tech Stuff
I got a job offer! I GOT A JOB OFFER! I gave Weltman my all and it worked out for me. I wowed ’em in my Wednesday Teams interview and again in my Thursday onsite, and an hour later the call came. I haven’t accepted yet — I do want to finish the interview loop with System Seals — but I’m feeling very positive about the position and am looking forward to getting started. I was able to push my start date back to November 16, so I can get a lot of miscellaneous things done these next two weeks that I haven’t been able to finish during my official unemployment. Probably should make a list.
The church website…needs done. As does the Stripe integration. Eesh.
Pick Up Your Socks looks beautiful now and does exactly one thing. It might have to get abandoned though. Because why? I’M ABOUT TO BE AN EMPLOYED LADY IS WHY! Yeahhhh health insurance!
Writing
Still reading through Story Genius (very slowly, I’m still juggling like 5 books at once) and thinking about how I can adapt A Marriage of Convenience to be more character-driven. Hint: she’s not actually going to marry Jonathan. She’s just going to move into his rather sad AirBnb while she helps shovel her dad out of her childhood home after he suffers like…a fall, or a heart attack, or something.
Reading
Finished Running on Empty and have started The Round House as my ear-reading. I was ready to give it a 5/5 from the start — it’s very compelling nearly immediately. Kindle-wise, I’ve mostly focused on Bad Therapy lately, because So You Married a Human was kind of bugging me. (Not the content, just sort of…the over cutesy-ness of the author.) Continuing to read a chapter of How to be Good at Life each day and really enjoying it. I can do this! I can be good at life!
Other Creative Pursuits
Haven’t done as much piano this week as I wanted to…what did I even do this week? Oh right, devoted 3 hours of my life to Elizabeth Holmes, is what. Made a bit of puzzle progress. And I got out my camera again yesterday and today! So I’ll sort through those photos after I’m done here.
Health
Lolllll. Dropped the ball on a couple of my workouts this week. But! If I get one in tomorrow (and I will dang it) I’ll only have skipped one this week. So that’s not too bad. I don’t even know what my weight is doing. Which is honestly kind of freeing. But whaaaat am I going to do when I’m working full time again? Wake up at 5am and do my workout? Better than waiting until the evening and just…not.
Home Projects
Reply hazy, try again later. (No, I didn’t make any basement progress, and in fact, it got messy again this week. So we need to tidy it up again tomorrow.
Family & Adventures:
- Liesl’s Halloween party was a blast. It was fun to hang around her and meet all the kids I hear about all the time. (And her BFF Matilda is a DARLING.)
- Theda has been begging me to start gymnastics. I reached out to the daughter of someone who attends our church, who is a rhythmic gymnastics instructor, but haven’t heard back yet. I might give her a call tomorrow, we’ll see. The gym is like a half an hour away, so not amazing super fun, but I’m sure we’ll figure it out.
- Ambrose survived his first school overnight trip! (Did I say that last week? Can’t remember.)
- We all spent today carving pumpkins. I sorted through all the seeds and will roast them tomorrow if I have time. I hope to have time. I need to plan out tomorrow better than I did today…
Action Items:
- Cash my sister the $100 I owe her! Geez. Louize. With cheeze. And peaze.
